Budgeting for the long gap
The 24 December payment must cover Christmas and the wait until your normal January date. Do the maths on your own cycle: if you're usually paid on the 28th, the 24 December payment has to stretch all the way to 28 January — 35 days on a single payment. Separate rent, bills and food money the moment it lands, then divide what's left by the days remaining until your January date so the daily amount is honest. Early funds normally clear between midnight and 2:00 AM on the adjusted date, so check your banking app on the morning of the 24th rather than worrying overnight.
