About Benefits Checker

We help UK residents understand when their benefit money will actually arrive — especially around weekends and bank holidays.

Last updated: September 2026

Why we built this

Official guidance on benefit payment dates is accurate, but it is rarely written the way people actually ask the question: "when will my money be in my account?" We started Benefits Checker to give a straight answer to that question for Universal Credit, PIP, Child Benefit and State Pension — and to keep the maths honest by showing exactly how each date is worked out.

We are a small, independent team. We do not work for the government, we do not sell financial advice, and we do not collect your claim details. What we do is read the official rules carefully and turn them into interactive payment-date calculators and plain-English guides that anyone can follow.

We keep the site current as the calendar changes: bank-holiday dates, winter payment schemes and benefit rates are reviewed every year, and anything that looks out of date gets checked against the official sources and fixed.

What we've added recently

  • Winter 2026/27 guides — Winter Fuel Payment, Cold Weather Payments and the Warm Home Discount, each with who qualifies, how much it is and when it is paid.
  • Payment-time explainers for 10 UK banks — when BACS payments actually land with Monzo, Barclays, Lloyds, Halifax, Santander, NatWest, Nationwide, HSBC, Starling and Revolut, including features like Get Paid Early.
  • Bank-holiday payment guides — what happens to your benefit dates around Easter, the May bank holidays, the August bank holiday and Christmas, and how to budget for the longer gaps.
  • Interactive payment-date calculators — pick your benefit and your payment pattern and get the adjusted date instantly, with the working-day rule applied.

What we are not

We are an independent information website. We are NOT affiliated with the UK Government, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). We cannot access your claim, change your personal details or chase a missing payment — only the DWP or HMRC can do that. For anything official, always use GOV.UK. Our dates are planning estimates based on published rules; they are not payment guarantees.

How we stay trustworthy

Every calculation we publish follows the method documented in our methodology: the previous working-day rule, official bank-holiday data and the BACS three-day cycle. Our publishing standards — sources, corrections and how we handle uncertainty — are set out in our editorial policy. If you spot a mistake, contact us: we check reported errors against the official sources and correct verified mistakes promptly.
