1. Independence

Benefits Checker is an independent information website, not part of the UK Government, DWP or HMRC. Editorial decisions are ours alone. No government body reviews or approves our content.

2. Sources we trust

Claims about payment rules, dates and helplines must trace back to primary sources:

GOV.UK benefit and bank-holiday pages;
Bank of England holiday calendar;
Official bank help centres for BACS processing times.

Secondary press or forum reports are only used for context and are labelled as estimates.

3. Review process

Calculators are tested against weekend and bank-holiday edge cases before release.
Holiday data is re-checked at least once a year and after any GOV.UK calendar change.
Guides are written in plain English and checked for dark-mode, mobile and accessibility regressions.

4. Corrections

If you report a verifiable error via our contact page, we investigate against the primary source, fix the page promptly and record material corrections in the changelog where appropriate. We do not silently alter calculation logic.

5. Advertising and affiliate disclosure

The site is funded by advertising (e.g. Google AdSense) and potentially affiliate links. Sponsored placements never influence calculator results or payment-date logic. Advertising is visually separated from tools and editorial content.
