Easter is the longest spring break in the DWP calendar: two bank holidays with a weekend sandwiched between them. If your normal payday falls anywhere inside that four-day window, you won't have to wait until the offices reopen — you'll be paid on the last working day before the break, Thursday 25 March 2027.
Your Easter week, day by day: what lands when
- Thu 25 Mar 2027 — adjusted payday for everything due 26–29 Mar. Normal Thursday paydays land today too.
- Fri 26 Mar (Good Friday) — bank holiday, no BACS processing; anything due today was paid on Thu 25 Mar.
- Sat 27 Mar — weekend, no processing; paydays due today were paid on Thu 25 Mar.
- Sun 28 Mar (Easter Sunday) — weekend, no processing; paydays due today were paid on Thu 25 Mar.
- Mon 29 Mar (Easter Monday) — bank holiday in England, Wales & NI, no processing; anything due today was paid on Thu 25 Mar.
- Tue 30 Mar 2027 — normal schedule resumes. Anything due from today onwards arrives on its usual date.
What the four-day break means for your benefit
- Universal Credit: any monthly payday landing 26–29 March moves to Thu 25 March. Your following payment keeps its normal monthly date, so that cycle runs a few days long.
- PIP & Child Benefit (every 4 weeks): count 28 days from your last payment — if the result lands 26–29 March, it arrives on Thu 25 March instead. The cycle after that picks up its normal rhythm.
- State Pension: Friday paydays (NI digits 80–99) due 26 March move to Thu 25 March, and Monday paydays (NI digits 00–19) due 29 March move to Thu 25 March. Other weekday cohorts — Tue (20–39), Wed (40–59), Thu (60–79) — are unaffected.
Due date → payday
Normal schedule resumes Tue 30 Mar.
Stretching one payday across the Easter gap
Treat the 25 March payment as two pay packets in one: it has to cover the holiday weekend and the longer wait until your normal April date. Set aside rent, bills and food money the moment it lands — school holidays and pricier Easter food shops catch plenty of people out. Funds usually clear between midnight and 2:00 AM on 25 March, so check your bank app first thing rather than worrying overnight.
